Brett Angell Wins UKIPT Grand Final

Tuesday October 14,2014 :  ANGELL THE VICTOR IN U.K.I.P.T. GRAND FINAL POKER

Brit amateur player takes home GBP 115,083.

Five days ago the final United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) of Season 4 kicked off in London with 1,089 runners vying for the big money….almost 32 levels later only one player was left standing – Brit IT worker and poker amateur player Brett Angell.

Angell has been a regular entrant in UKIPT tournaments over the last few years, but this time he bested all comers and took home a first prize worth GBP 115,083.

The large entry list distilled over several days to a final table that comprised players from seven different countries – United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Switzerland, France, Denmark, and Russia.

In the end it came down to heads up between Angell and Swiss player Fabrizio Fuchs, with the British player holding a chip lead but agreeing to a two-way chop to even out the gap between first and second prizes.

Despite a heroic effort, Fuchs was unable to contain his confident opponent in the one-and-three-quarter hour finale, and Angell walked away with the honours, leaving the Swiss player with a healthy consolation prize of GBP 98,717.

Other final table pay-outs included:

Sandro Mescola Italy GBP 56,500
Mark James UK GBP 42,500
Nickolas Davies USA GBP 32,500
Vladimir Troyanovskiy Russia GBP 23,800
Caicai Huang UK GBP 17,800
Rasmus Agerskov Denmark GBP 12,800

Commenting on his biggest win to date, Angell said:

"I still work in IT and I'm going to carry on working in IT. I really enjoy playing but poker's too unpredictable. I've had the mickey taken out of me by my mates for the past two and a half years [about his runner-up finish at UKIPT2 Nottingham] so it's a good feeling to win one.

"It was great having all my pals from the Teeside area cheering me on, they were fantastic."
