Bwin Wins Domain Name Dispute

Monday July 25, 2011 :  WIPO JUDGEMENT IN FAVOUR OF BWIN IN DOMAIN DISPUTE

Domain names to be transferred to bwin

The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) handed down judgment in a case brought by bwin Services AG, part of bwin.party group, against Shenoyan of Hong Kong earlier this month (July) regarding a dispute over the domain names bwin2.com and bwin788.com.

The opportunistic operator "Shenoyan" registered the domain names in April 2011 with bwin2.com connected to an active Chinese language website providing online gaming services.

The website reportedly closely resembled the bwin website in colour usage, design, came complete with a similar BWIN trademark across the top of the web page, displayed the official sponsoring partners that appear on the actual bwin website and included a copyright notice at the end of each page that read "“Copyright © 2011 bwin International Ltd”.

WIPO's judgment went in favour of bwin Services AG and the organisation ordered the domain names bwin2.com and bwin788.com be transferred to bwin Services AG.
