Pokerstars, tribal groups and cardrooms in major marketing drive.
 
A new online poker legalization initiative, dubbed Californians for Responsible iPoker has launched, supported by a website at www.californians4ipoker.com.
 
Funded and managed by the pro-online poker legalization coalition consisting of Pokerstars and its parent group Amaya Gaming, the Morongo and San Manuel Bands of Mission Indians and the Bicycle, Commerce and Hawaiian Gardens cardrooms, the initiative seeks to bring together Californians who want to see equitable and regulated online poker made available within state borders.
 
The website allows interested parties to sign up for regular email updates on developments in legalization in California and advice on how they can help drive legalization forward and make their views known.
 
There are also educational elements, and positive arguments on the issues surrounding legalization, along with links to relevant media material.
 
The alliance, through Pokerstars professionals and ambassadors, is additionally generating publicity on the issues with appearances at the card rooms by high-profile, responsible players like Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker, Vanessa Selbst and Jason Mercier.
 
The Viejas tribal group – a member of an anti-Pokerstars alliance that includes the Pechanga, Barona, Agua Caliente and other bands – recently launched aggressive radio advertisements attacking Pokerstars, which may have prompted the new marketing initiative.
