SIX DETAINED IN INDIAN ONLINE GAMBLING BUST

Police in New Delhi have announced the detention of six people for betting on the One Day International cricket match ( bet on cricket here ) between India and South Africa Friday.  The men used the Betfair.com website for obtaining the latest fluctuating rates for the stake and betting.
 
The Hindustan Times quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma, who revealed that stake money of around R72 000 (around Euro 1162) was seized during a raid on a home in the city, where Rajiv Sharma (40), Dharambir Singh (37), Suraj (36), Anil Kumar (46), Vishal Dual (38) and Gagan (28) were arrested following a sting operation involving a police decoy player.
 
The accuseds told the police that they were running the wagering operation and were booking the stakes through mobile phones by recording the entries in laptop, registers and note pads.
 
"They were using website Betfair.com for obtaining the latest fluctuating rates for the stake and betting on the cricket match," Sharma said, revealing that one of the accused, Rajiv Sharma, is computer literate and has previously been in trouble for a similar offence.
