Gambling: Information Thief Nailed

 With detection technology becoming ever more effective, Australian cyber-investigators this week nailed a 20-year-old Adelaide hacker and charged him with infecting over 3 000 computers with a malicious software program designed to steal banking and credit card information.
 
Police have declined to identify the hacker as investigations widen, but have confirmed that on September 4th he will face a series of serious charges that carry jail terms of up to 10 years. Police Detective Superintendent Jim Jeffrey said that information uncovered in the investigation will lead the police to other offenders.
 
The hacker is additionally charged with illegally creating a capacity to disable computer systems by bombarding them with unwanted traffic from up to 74 000 ‘zombie' computers he controlled around the world in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
 
The arrest followed a three-month investigation involving state and federal computer crime detectives.
