IGT Slots Top Popularity Poll

Monday January 21, 2013 : IGT TOPS LAND SLOTS POPULARITY POLL

Food for thought for online slot developers?

U.S. game researchers Todd Eilers and Frank Fantini's latest quarterly study on the most popular land slots may give online slot developers some ideas on what appeals to the gambling public.

An article on the survey in the publication Las Vegas Inc reported that Eilers and Fantini discovered that IGT's Wheel of Fortune led the pack with 34 percent market share in the last quarter of 2012, followed by Bally Technology's Michael Jackson slot (16 percent of market share) and WMS (9 percent).

Another IGT game, Megabucks, tied with the Bally product for the second most popular game of the quarter.

Casino operators opined that Bally's new iView system was one of the most exciting new developments from an operational perspective. The award-winning picture-in-picture-style player-user-interface enables gaming operators to choose where on the game they want to display player information and bonusing promotions.

The study polled 73 operators of 245 casinos with 256,000 slot machines worldwide.
