INDONESIAN POLICE TIGHTEN UP ON INTERNET GAMBLING


5/5/10 – Police in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta claim that they have broken up two online gambling networks based in the city and conducting internet gambling and betting that generated a combined daily turnover of around Rp 500 million.
 
Public communication chief, Senior Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar said in a press conference Tuesday that two men were arrested in a local housing complex and equipment, currency and other evidence was seized following a surveillance operation over the past month.
 
The police spokesman revealed that two more people were arrested and further evidence, including Rp 495 million in cash was impounded in a separate operation.
