Jacksonville attorney Kelly Mathis (50) gets 6 years in jail for his part in $300 million gambling ring.
 
Jacksonville attorney Kelly Mathis, who was convicted last year as a key defendant in the $300 million Allied Veterans internet café gambling prosecution has been sentenced to 6 years in prison by a Seminole County Judge in Florida.
 
Mathis has lodged notice of intention to appeal, and will remain free on bond. He contends that all he did was give legal advice to the Allied Veterans of American under whose aegis the ring was operated. Mathis maintains his firm only received $1.5 million for the legal advice.
 
The sentence covers 103 counts of racketeering, possessing slot machines and other charges.
