Alessandro Siena Steamrolls Final Table to Win MPNPT Malta Main Event and €35,000. Italian online poker pro Alessandro Siena saw off a nine-handed final table in record time for the MPN Poker Tour yesterday at Casino Malta to win the Main Event’s top prize of €35,000. Arriving with twice the stack of the other finalists, he never lost his chip lead, hoisting the trophy after just five hours.
The €550 MPNPT Malta Main Event built a total prizepool of €178,480 after attracting 368 entries. Yesterday’s Day 2 saw most of the 44 paid players collect their prizes, leaving only the final table to fight for the trophy this afternoon.
The fight lasted longer for Siena’s eventual heads up opponent, 18 year old student Daniel Jacobsen, than he might have anticipated, as he came to the final table relatively low-stacked. However, after a very quiet start, Jacobsen fought back and, having outlasted a combination of pros and experienced amateurs, made inroads into Siena’s stack heads up before finally busting out.
By the time the final was four-handed, Siena had built an almost unheard-of chip lead, with ten times his nearest opponent’s chips. The tense final was watched live as players arrived for the day’s side events, and online (with a half hour delay) on Twitch.tv/thrillofpoker and Facebook Live.
