Onyx Cup Series Announce By Full Tilt Poke

Posted 3/17/11 : The Onyx Cup Series is the ultimate live poker tournament series. The best poker players will meet in a series of six high-stakes live tournaments stretched across the globe, featuring an estimated prize pool of $30 million.

Buy-ins start from $100K with each live tournament awarding points, based on where players finish, towards the Onyx Cup Series Leaderboard. The players who earn the most Leaderboard points in the opening five events will qualify for the $250K buy-in Grand Finale in Las Vegas this December.

At the conclusion of the Grand Finale, the top player on the Onyx Cup Series Leaderboard will be crowned the Onyx Cup Series champion and have their name engraved on the spectacular trophy, forever becoming part of poker history.

In addition to the prestigious title and the winner’s share of the $30 million prize pool, the Onyx Cup Series champion will also leave in a manner that befits their newly acquired status – behind the wheel of a brand new luxury sports car.

The Onyx Cup Series events will be played at eight-handed tables and feature a "shot clock" format. Players must act within 30 seconds or their hand will be either checked or folded. Each day, players will receive three time chips – two for 30 seconds and one for two minutes – that they can use at any time during play.

Every dramatic moment of the Onyx Cup Series action will be filmed on a specially commissioned set and will be broadcast on over 40 TV networks around world.
