Orange County Chief Supports Online Gambling

4/23/10 – Adam Probolsky, the owner and chief executive of the respected Probolsky Opinion Research company, has written in support of the legalization of online gambling in the Orange County Register.

Probolsky writes that businesses in the area are on the cutting edge of technology and innovation, and that he sees an online gambling boom on the horizon as moves by politicians like Congressman Barney Frank build momentum

"I recently sent a letter to Congressman John Campbell encouraging him to support the legalization," the research expert writes, pointing out that Internet gambling is a fact of life and that around 1 US household in 10 gambles online, a percentage that is higher than the numbers that go to land casinos.

Bemoaning the fact that due to the current legal climate the US is denied the jobs and tax revenues that could be flowing from US-licensed online gambling, Probolsky points out that legalization could bring significant hosting benefits to the region, which is rich in tech savvy people and data centre capacity.

"The [Irvine] city council should urge Congressman Campbell to approve the law and start working with the Chamber of Commerce to attract major online gaming interests," opines Probolsky. "Even if you oppose the practice of gambling, let's capture the jobs now and debate the principles later."
