Paddy Power has a bit of fun with anonymous tipsters

Last week the reputable bookie group Stan James issued a warning about tipster Dave Beddington Racing falsely claiming to have been associated with the company .

In related news this week online and land gambling group Paddy Power poked some fun at the tipster genre in its as usual inimitable and amusing way.

The company responded to chatter on its Facebook wall about ‘big Cheltenham race tips’ with a new television ad that lampoons dodgy tips and their frequently unreliable roots.

Created by the CP+B studios as part of the brand’s ‘We Hear You’ campaign, the ad follows the route of a mythical Cheltenham tip from a Facebook fan back to the room of a prison, via some unsavoury characters, underlining the maxim: “If you don’t know where your tip started, it’s value is probably questionable”.

The subtext is clearly that bookie offers are likely to be more reliable.
