INTERNET GAMBLING VANS WORRY PAGCOR

Licensees are restricted to specific locations, state gambling body warns

ABC-CBN reports that the new management of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is concerned about the proliferation of mobile internet casinos with a difference – they are operated from large container vans.

The vans host Filipinos and foreigners alike, where they can play PAGCOR e-Games like video poker, video blackjack, baccarat and online slot machines.

PAGCOR officials claim there are a total of 167 PAGCOR e-Games or internet gaming centres around the Philippines, and an investigation has now been launched to find out which of these is operating in mobile van mode.

The concern is rooted in regulations which require licensees to remain in one, approved location.

Under the new government in the Philippines, state body PAGCOR added, it has now embarked on a re-evaluation of the gaming licenses issued under the previous regime to make sure the interests of the people are protected.
