GLOBAL POKER LEAGUE EYES SOCIAL AND REAL MONEY PARTNERSHIPS

League issues a Request for Proposal to online poker operators interested in spin-off venture PlayGPL.

The Global Poker League is eyeing expansion into the social and real money poker environment through a new vehicle titled PlayGPL, and has issued a Request for Proposal from social operators like Zynga, Pokerist, Boyaa, Tencent and DragonPlay, according to media reports.

It is at present not known which real money online poker operators it has in mind for involvement as it seeks to offer a more diverse product, reach more players and increase its engagement with fans of the game.

The League has apparently surveyed players who have asked for more involvement than as mere spectators, and G PL founder Alex Dreyfus has indicated in his blog that he would be seeking “partnerships with key online poker rooms (social, free-to-play and real money offers) to connect fans to the GPL directly through active play.”
