Industry observers were trying to work out over the weekend why CBS and The Washington Post both decided to re-publish a seven-month-old story on the Internet poker cheating scandals at Absolute Poker.com and UltimateBet.com.

Although a header on the story at cbsnews.com/stories/2008/11/25/60minutes/main4633254.shtml?tag=contentMain;contentBody said it had been updated on June 25th, 2009 it appeared to be the same November 2008 article which backed a "60 Minutes" television expose last year, along with what must have been a record reader response column of some 446 opinions – in many cases worth another visit, btw.

Speculation ranged from an attempt to align the story with the current 40th Anniversary World Series of Poker to a suggestion that US legalization moves in Congress, Florida and California  may have made the subject topical once again.
