RELATIONS SOUR BETWEEN LOTO-QUEBEC AND POKER LEAGUE

Friday July 22,2011 : RELATIONS SOUR BETWEEN LOTO-QUEBEC AND POKER LEAGUE

court action in progress

Relations seem to have soured in a partnership between Canadian State-company Loto-Québec and the Quebec Poker Tournament League (LTPQ).

A promotion agreement between Loto-Québec's online interest espacejeux.com and LTPQ has resulted in the poker league being forced to suspend its activities pending the outcome of legal action brought before a Canadian Superior Court.

Industry observers report that the roots lie in a statement posted by the LTPQ on its website publicising an alleged dispute over service and sponsorship payments due by Loto-Québec.

Loto-Québec responded with legal action citing damage to its reputation and a claim of CAD175 000 against the league and its owner, Andre Boyer.

Loto-Québec reportedly declined to comment on the matter pending a decision by the court, while the LTPQ has promised to update its members in the near future.
