Internet poker giant pumps over $7,000,000 into guaranteed prize pools
Online poker operator Pokerstars has announced a new, 13 region series of tournaments for internet poker fans, pumping over $7 million into the project in the form of guaranteed prize pools.
The PokerStars Regional Championships of Online Poker (RCOOP) will run in regions throughout the world, with players confined to the action within their region, and each regional tourney consisting of 11 events.
The 13 regions are Russia, Nordic, Baltics, USA, Canada, Germanics, Asia Pacific, Mediterranean, UK & Ireland, Central and Eastern European, Latin American, Iberian, and Benelux.
There are buy-ins to suit all players, and satellites start from just a few dollars, according to the Pokerstars website. Players will be able to chat online with other players in their own language, and the Pokerstars pros will be hosting the various events.
“It's about national pride, winning big and proving that you are the best player in your region. And everyone can take part,” a Pokerstars spokesman said this week.
