Russian Average sports bet decreases by half in 2015

Monday, February 29, 2016 :  RUSSIAN SPORTS PUNTERS SLOW DOWN

Average sports bet decreases by half in 2015.

The major Russian betting software company First Gaming – Rub90 reports following an analytical review that on average Russian punters in 2015 spent less than half what they staked in the preceding year.

In a statement, the company commented:

"In 2015, an average sports bet decreased by half in dollar terms compared to the previous year. This is primarily due to the volatility of the exchange rate. For the same reason average bets on all major sports have also fallen. The biggest average bet was made on basketball – on average, $19.39 at a time. The second and third positions are occupied by football ($16.81) and handball ($16.54) respectively".

The average bet in 2015 amounted to $15.35, while in 2014 it was $30.08, according to the First Bet – Rub 90 assessment..

Football remained the top bets generator, although volume fell from 63 percent in 2014 to 42 percent in 2015. It was followed by tennis (18.6 percent) and basketball (13.5 percent).

Spring was peak time for wagering (around 30 percent) due to the final stages of European and national football tournaments, qualifiers for UEFA Euro 2016 and world hockey tournament, according to the review.
