SoccaBet officially launched in Ghana

Tuesday September 29,2015 : SOCCABET LAUNCHES IN GHANA

Amid internal confusion on legality of the operation.

Online and retail sports betting operator SoccaBet officially launched in Ghana this past weekend but it seems amid some confusion from within Ghana’s own Government departments.

President of the Ghana Gaming Commission, Emmanuel Quaynoo publicly appealed to the country’s own Police authorities to refrain from shutting down and seizing any assets, saying: “The Commission is the only institution mandated by law to seize any equipment if they find operators violating the gaming laws.

"I am appealing to the Police and Municipal Authorities to desist from the act and rather contact the Commission for directions if they suspect any wrong doing by a betting outfit.

"Individuals including foreigners have invested massively into the venture and it would be very disturbing if they are treated in such an embarrassing manner.”

SoccaBet is a privately-held company with 800+ employees, according to LinkedIn.  It offers sports betting, online casino, poker, virtual games and bingo.

Chief executive officer Gungoran Arslan steers the ship which was reportedly launched in 2014.

“We are already making inroads in the betting industry, though we are just six months in Ghana,” Arslan said at launch. “We have become leaders as a focused online betting business.”

While software details are sketchy, the operation carries a selection of games from GamesOS (previously CTXM).
