Spanish One Operator One Account Regulation

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 : WATCH OUT FOR SPANISH ‘ONE OPERATOR, ONE ACCOUNT' REGULATION

Spanish Gambling Act restricts players to a single account at each licensed operator.

Reports from Spanish online gambling information sites indicate that some operators in the Spanish market are having to belatedly address a vagary in the regulations which insists that “user registration must be unique for each operator.”

That phrase is being interpreted as meaning that regardless of how many sites an operator may be offering, the player can only register one account with each operator.

In trying to comply with the regulation, some operators have reportedly been insisting that players choose which accounts they wish to keep, and closing any others with the same operator.

Bwin and its merger partner Party Gaming is one example of the confusion the ruling has introduced, with the Spanish operations of the merged company being regarded as a single operator, necessitating the closure of some player accounts registered at both.
