Stan James inks three year deal with UK racecourse
 
Online betting firm Stan James.com has announced that it will sponsor the Chester Cup at Chester after agreeing a three-year deal with the racecourse.
 
The deal will see the race renamed The Stan James.com Chester Cup until 2014, with the inaugural run held on 9th May 2012, the first day of Chester's annual May Festival on what is now called Stan James Raceday.
 
Stan James.com CEO Denis Kelly said: "We're delighted to be joining forces with Chester Races for the next few years to promote and strengthen one of the most popular races of the Flat Season.
 
"Punters love a great day out at The Roodee and so do we. The Chester Cup has a long and rich history and Stan James.com is excited to become a part of the old race's ongoing story over the next few years."
 
The chief executive of the racecourse, Richard Thomas, commented: "I am delighted to confirm a three-year partnership with Stan James.com, who will title sponsor Cup Day on May 9th, the opening day of our season. The highlight of the day will be The Stan James.com Chester Cup, which is our most historic and competitive race during the May Festival."
