Tennis Odds: Wawrinka Favored in Marseilles

One week after taking down the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, the No. 7 seed Stan Wawrinka is the 15/8 favorite to double up at the Open 13 event in Marseilles. The opposition will be a bit thinner this time out; the Open 13 is an ATP World Tour 250 stop, and one of three men’s tournaments taking place this week.

That doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be smooth sailing for Wawrinka. World’s No. 6 and second favorite Milos Raonic (10/3) will also appearing in Marseilles, and he who has one of the most powerful serves in the game today. His serve should make even more of an impact on the indoor hard courts at the Palais des Sports.

Having said that, Wawrinka has a 4-0 lifetime record against Raonic, including a 7-6(3), 7-6(7) win in the semifinals at Rotterdam. That’s the main reason Wawrinka is considered the favorite in this event, even though Raonic has been seeded No. 1. Watch out as well for the third favorite and the 2007 Open 13 champion, Gilles Simon at 8/1. Simon is currently ranked No. 19 in the world and is coming off a major upset win over Andy Murray (–700) at Rotterdam.
