Twitch Bans Gambling Streaming

NOW TWITCH BANS GAMBLING ON ITS PLATFORM

Streaming service follows Valve in warning against improper use by eSports.

The live streaming Twitch service has joined Valve in warning eSports operators that it will not tolerate being used for gambling or promoting gambling activity.

The service cautioned users that "content in which the broadcaster uses or promotes services that violate Valve’s stated restrictions is prohibited on Twitch.”

The ban is likely to have far-reaching effects; eSports generates around 20 percent of Twitch viewership and eSports tournaments and related activity are very popular.
