UB POKER PRIVACY LEAK UNDER INVESTIGATION

December 10, 2011 : Personal banking or credit card details were not compromised, online poker site claims

UltimateBet.com, the online poker site that hit the headlines last week when confidential player data was published on a website by person or persons unknown, has assured its players that personal banking, social security and credit card information has not been compromised, and that an investigation is in progress.

Just on a week ago the online poker information site Subject:Poker and posters at the twoplustwo forum reported on the issue, confirming that at least some of the information was verifiable as correct.

Somewhat belatedly, UltimateBet's parent group, the Cereus Network, made a public statement this week on the issue, assuring the market that the privacy breach was the subject of a full investigation.

"This investigation is a top priority for us, and our examination of all the facts will be both methodical and comprehensive," Cereus promised in the statement.

"Our review of the published files is ongoing, though we believe them to be an out-of date version of our current database. If our inquiry confirms that an actual theft of UB and Absolute Poker data has occurred, we will do everything possible to bring the criminals to justice.

"We are taking all available precautionary measures to ensure the safety of your account."
