UTAH INTERNET CAFES SHUT DOWN FOR GAMBLING

Police in West Valley City, Utah shut down two online gambling operations in raids this week, arresting dozens of people in the process and confiscating computer equipment, reports KSL.com.
 
Names and details have yet to be released on the raids, which were applauded by neighbouring business owners disturbed at the prospect of gambling in a state where such a pastime is strongly discouraged.
 
The raids on Cyber City Cafe and Digital Connect follow a two year investigation by local enforcement agencies, reports KSL.com.
 
"We're hoping that tonight we can send out a clear message that this will not be tolerated," West Valley Police Sgt. Mike Powell said following the raid. He revealed that people arrested for online gambling will face a class B misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
