WILLIAM HILL TAKES ANOTHER LEGAL HIT

This week has seen a sequel to the successful 32Red.com trademark infringement action against William Hill plc last month.
 
The two companies were again represented in a London High Court Thursday as 32Red followed up on its earlier victory with a request for an injunction prohibiting William Hill from exploiting the 32Vegas brand anywhere in the European Union.
 
The William Hill legal representatives reportedly asked that the case be heard in private to protect commercial sensitivities, a request which the judge rejected on grounds that the public had the right to be aware of the issues raised and his decision.
 
At the end of the first day’s litigation the court issued the injunction requested, and ordered that William Hill must publish its finding on its corporate websites, especially those concerned with online gambling activities.
 
The case today (Friday) will get down to the nitty gritty of compensation for legal costs, loss and damages sustained by 32Red in the 2 year dispute over trademark infringement
