5/10/10 – A senior Indonesian police officer has revealed that using Facebook to facilitate online gambling on the upcoming football World Cup is likely to catch the eye of special police monitors.

"We will find out whether virtual poker games played in social networking sites such as Facebook involve gambling," police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar was quoted as saying Sunday by vivanews.com.

The police officer reiterated earlier warnings  that his men have intensified surveillance on the Internet to crack down on possible online gambling.

The Jakarta Post reported earlier this month that police arrested a suspect for allegedly operating two illegal gambling sites generating up to Rp 500 million ($55 500) daily.
