Worlds Biggest Live Poker Tournament Dates

Friday June 15,2012 :  WORLD'S BIGGEST LIVE POKER TOURNAMENT DATES ANNOUNCED

Undeterred by its Full Tilt Poker failure, GBT is getting its ISPT project off the ground

Remember that rather grandiose poker tournament plan for Wembley Stadium in London launched by Groupe Bernard Tapie and partners in a glossy vid last year? It's back, albeit now scheduled for May-June 2013.

Laurent Tapie and his partner, former Partouche Interactive president Prosper Masqulier, revitalised their International Stadiums of Poker Tour this week by Twitter and website announcements booking the event at Wembley between May 31 and June 6….dates that may well clash with next year's World Series of Poker.

The basic concept for the project is to persuade 30,000 poker players to pony up in order to build a giant prize pool of Euro 20 million, playing down to 3,000 on e-tablets used on the stadium terraces.

The lucky and talented three thousand finalists then move to live poker tables on the stadium floor to play down to a final table and then a winner.

If the London bash works well, Tapie and Masqulier plan to take the concept to other major international capitals.

GBT later put the proposed tournament schedule up on the ISPT website here: http://www.ispt.com/en/program/grid/ detailing a two day ‘online' tournament followed by four days of live action, all telecast on half a dozen channels.

The announcement of the new dates triggered a welter of comments and criticisms, especially on poker specialist message boards like twoplustwo:

Some of the comments were not very positive, picking holes in the organisers' announcements and speculating on obstacles to success.

Further announcements have been promised.
