Wednesday May 13,2015 : WHEELER TRIUMPHS IN WORLD POKER TOUR AMSTERDAM HIGH ROLLER
52 players and 24 re-entries in Euro 6,000 buy-in event.
US online and live poker pro Jason “jdpc27” Wheeler, a former financial consultant, cleaned up this week at the World Poker Tour Amsterdam, taking down the Euro 6,000 buy-in High Roller event against a total of 76 entries (52 players and 24 re-entries).
Following a lively heads up against Jack Salter, Wheeler claimed a main prize of Euro 175,000.
The organisers had to arrange an additional day for the heads up in the event when the two pros survived a talented final table but had insufficient time to complete the heads up.
That followed on the next day, when the action resumed with Salter holding an almost 2 to 1 advantage over his opponent, but Wheeler enjoyed a good run of the cards.
That, allied to his considerable skill, helped him leverage his growing chip stack into a win and gave him his biggest pay-day since 2009, when he won $418,122 in a World Series of Poker event.
A disappointed but still well recompensed Salter took home Euro 90,000.
Other final table pay-outs included:
Misel Draganic Euro 56,700
Yingui Li Euro 42,000
Atanas Kavrakov Euro 31,500
Jean-Noel Thorel Euro 25,200
Simon Higgins Euro 21,000
Ad Schaap Euro 16,200
Ramin Hajivev Euro 12,604
