Alexander Kuperman wins Pokerstars Russian Poker Series

183 entries despite Russian bans

The draconian bans on Russian gambling have done little to discourage participation in the Pokerstars Russian Poker Series, although it did force the competition into neighbouring Latvia this week.

The Euro 1 850 + Euro 150 event attracted a total of 183 players, well over a third of them qualifiers in Pokerstars' internet satellite tourneys.

Estonian player Alexander Kuperman faced Murat Ganeev in the heads up and triumphed, taking home the lion's share of a Euro 328 394 prize pool when he collected a winner's check worth Euro 95 469.

Ganeev's second placing check was for Euro 59 100.
