Wednesday July 6, 2011 : DEMOCRAT COMES OUT IN FAVOUR OF U.S. LEGALISATION

Senator Rockefeller gives his thoughts on reducing the US deficit

The Democrat senator for West Virginia, Jay Rockefeller has come out in favour of the US legalization of online gambling on his website at http://rockefeller.senate.gov/press/record.cfm?id=333382&.

In a thoughtful study of the growing US deficit crisis, the senator suggests 18 ways in which the problem could be addressed…and one of them is to regulate and tax online gambling.

“Crack down on illegal Internet gambling,” the senator recommends.  “Establishing online gambling regulations will protect consumers, state’s rights and state sovereignty, and eliminate a huge illegal market that today benefits only countries and companies overseas, saving an estimated $41.8 billion over ten years, and an estimated additional $30 billion for states.”
