Databases separated in compliance with French Competition Authority recommendations

Agence France Presse reports that former French state gambling monopoly Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU) is to separate its online and (land) retail customer databases.

The move follows recommendations made in January this year by the French Competition Authority, which sought to avoid market "distortion."

Pierre Pagès, general secretary of the PMU, confirmed in an interview with the publication iGamingFrance that his group had proposed the establishment of "a strict separation of its customer databases….accompanied by a functional separation of sales between these two activities."

He revealed that the PMU had "fruitfully" engaged with the Authority since the beginning of the year and had presented "detailed proposals, and debated all issues concerning the notice."
