Bet365 Turning Away Chinese Gamblers

Thursday October 09,2014 : BET365 TURNING AWAY CHINESE BUSINESS? (Update)

Change in Affiliate Programme initiated

Affiliate reports this week suggest that Bet365 is turning away new business from Chinese punters following an in-depth report in UK newspaper, The Guardian

Bet365 responded at the time by saying: “In the view of bet365, and its lawyers, Chinese law does not extend to the provision of services into China by gambling operators and service providers who themselves have no nexus with the territory. Any allegation of illegality on the part of bet365 is therefore untrue.”

The communication sent by Jeff C of the bet365 Affiliate Program (translated from Chinese language) reads:

“Important changes of bet365 Affiliate Program

Hello!

bet365 Affiliate Program has made the following important changes since the evening of October 3, 2014 China Time.

1. Affiliates (agents) won't be able to refer new Chinese customers to bet365 through tracking links. All new Chinese customers of bet365 through affiliates' tracking links will not be recorded as affiliates' customers, hence these new customers will not generate commission for affiliates.

2. The customers referred through your tracking links prior to this change will remain unchanged and under your name. As long as they bet and generate commission, we will continue to pay you commission through monthly statements.”
