The second edition of Microgaming's online multi-player network tournament, Grand Slam of Slots II, concluded 11 days of fierce competition this week in which a prize pool of $456 700 was awarded to players.

The winner was Spin Palace player, A.P, who walked away with a cool $157,515.83, capping a great 24 hours in which the same player won $1,000 in the Network $25 000 Monthly Monster Tournament the night before.

Second placed player Lucko scooped $78,780.75 and the third place player $39,367.54.

The popular Thunderstruck II slot was used for the first time ever in a slot tournament for the Grand Slam of Slots II final, in which 290 lucky players ended up winning a cash prize from the 1 588 that played during the course of the tournament.

As no player managed to complete the full pay table; the bonus prize of $2.43 million, which could have been collected in cash or solid gold bullion, remains unclaimed, a company spokesman revealed.

Mike Hebden, head of casino operations at Microgaming said: “After the success of the first Grand Slam of Slots in 2009, this tournament had a lot to live up to and it certainly did not disappoint. Thunderstruck II proved to be a very popular choice with players [and] it was a fun and exciting tournament.

"The bonus prize of $2.43 million remained unclaimed and we’ll come up with an even better prize for Grand Slam of Slots III.”
