IRISH ONLINE GAMBLING TAX POSTPONED?

Wednesday May 30, 2012 : IRISH ONLINE GAMBLING TAX POSTPONED?

Safe for another year….

Unconfirmed reports in a number of Irish internet publications suggest that the Irish taxman has postponed plans to extend Irish taxation to online gambling firms to 2014.

InterGame quotes Irish minister Paul Kehoe on the issue, and reports that the delay is due to lawmakers focusing on more urgent issues connected with Ireland’s economy and the Euro crisis.

The government's plan now is apparently to publish its proposals early in 2013, heralding the start of a debate and consultative process that will probably take the project into the early part of 2014.
