Phil Ivey Suing Genting Gaming Club

Claiming GBP 7.8 million in unpaid winnings
 
Top International poker pro Phil Ivey and reportedly initiated legal proceedings against the 184-year-old Mayfair-based Crockfords, owned by the Malaysian Genting gambling group.
 
InfoPowa readers will recall the exclusive gaming club withholding Ivey's substantial winnings after he went on a heater playing Punto Banco late last year.
 
At the time, Crockfords admitted to authorities that it was withholding the payment but declined to comment on the reasons why leading to widespread speculation that Ivey's partner, described as a "beautiful Oriental woman", may have been involved as it emerged that her membership at another Mayfair Casino had been suspended.
 
“Crockfords has left me no alternative but to proceed with legal action, following its decision to withhold my winnings,” said Ivey in an e-mailed statement received by Bloomberg which was further corroborated in a phone interview with Ivey's lawyer Matthew Dowd.
