Rank Group plc has extended its charitable partnership with the Marie Curie Cancer Cure (MCCC), an organisation that provides care and support to cancer patients and their families through hospice facilities and other programmes, for a third consecutive year.

The British gaming group, through its subsidiaries Mecca Bingo, Grosvenor Casinos and Blue Square, has raised just under GBP 650 000 for the organisation over the past two years and is committed to hitting a GBP 1 million target by the end of 2012, said a company spokesperson.

Rank subsidiaries raised funds in support of the organisation in a host of initiatives that included a mass sky-dive, Knockout Tournament's, tombola’s, themed party nights and cake sales amongst others.

Nigel Green, Rank spokesperson said: "I've been so impressed with the drive and enthusiasm the team members have shown over the past two years when it came to organising fundraising events.  The impressive result just goes to show how hard everyone has worked.

Sarah Washington for MCCC, added: "The way in which members and customers have embraced the fundraising challenge for Marie Curie Cancer Care has been fantastic.  The wonderful amount raised will help make a difference to terminally ill people and their families as it will help to provide 21,000 hours of nursing care."
