The major French betting group Pari Mutuel Urbain has tasked digital marketing specialists Publicis Modem with developing an online marketing strategy that will increase customer sign-ups, reports e-marketer.fr this week.
 
The increase in internet action in the company's wide portfolio of gambling options is accompanied by more competition in the market from companies like Frans-Pari and Unibet following the liberalisation of the French gambling market last year.
 
The publication reports that PMU is also expanding internationally, with plans to compete in the Belgian market with its horseracing product, and the launch of a new mobile channel aimed at customers who like to wager on the move from smart phones and iPads.
