Ilari Sahamies Hit Isildur1 For 492k

Friday August 26,2011 :  SAHAMIES BREAKS BLOM IN INTERNET POKER CLASH

Two of the most entertaining high stakes internet poker players duke it out

Finnish online poker high stakes expert Ilari Sahamies took down the eccentric but highly entertaining Viktor ‘Isildur1' Blom for $492 000 in a heads up clash over 1,132 hands at Pokerstars this week.

Both players have reputations for valley-and-mountain swings in their online poker fortunes, on occasion seeing million dollar see-saws in wins and losses.

With Full Tilt Poker and its bigger stake games no longer available, the latest clash played out on Pokerstars, with Blom initially building an almost half million dollar bankroll in 2,942 hands on the  6-Max PLO virtual tables before switching to the NL heads up tables, where Sahamies turned out to be his nemesis, relieving him of all but $76,000 of his prior winnings.

The huge victory will be a welcome break for Sahamies, who was reportedly down by $800,000 earlier this year, and is now in the black to the tune of $600,000 following recent triumphs.

Big losers in the session – mainly to Blom when he was on his 6-maxPLO heater – included Ronny “1-ronnyr3” Kaiser ($229 000 down), Theo Jorgensen ($161 000 down) Niki “RealAndyBeal” Jedlicka ($118 000 down) and gavz101 (down $101 000).
