Progress For Spain Online Slots

Saturday February 15,2014 : SLOTS PROGRESS IN SPAIN

It's taking a while but the Spanish legislative system is finally getting there.

Although it's taken over a year since the announcement that Spanish online gambling operators would be allowed to offer slot action, the regulatory and legislative system is at last making some progress.

In the most recent news from the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) it appears that the regulator will be submitting its draft plan and legalization for the introduction of online slots to regional authorities next week.

Following that, the regulator will publish the draft online and invite public comment and input. After digesting this, the DGOJ will forward the possibly amended draft to the Ministry for Tax, which will arrange publication in the government gazette six months ahead of implementation.

Operators who are still in the Spanish market despite its high taxes and ring-fenced player pool are hoping that the introduction of slot action will revitalise player interest and attract more business in a sector that has not been doing well over the past year as players gamble less in a struggling economy.
