MAIN USERS OF TABLETS ARE GAMERS
84 percent of tablet owners play games
Internet gambling marketers will be taking note of new data from Google's Admob, which shows that more Internet users deploy tablets for gaming than for any other purpose, even viewing news or email.
The study found: "According to the survey, 84 percent of tablet owners play games, ahead of even searching for information (78 percent), emailing (74 percent) and reading the news (61 percent).
"56 percent of tablet owners use social networking services on their device, while 51 percent consume music and/or videos, and 46 percent read ebooks.”
The survey discovered that 38 percent of respondents spend more than two hours a day using their tablets, while another 30 percent spend 1-2 hours.
"It appears that tablets are predominantly domestic devices, with 82 percent of people primarily using their tablets at home, versus 11 percent who say they are used primarily on the go, and 7 percent who said at work.
"28 percent of respondents say their tablet is now their primary computer, while 43 percent say they spend more time using their tablet than they do their desktop or laptop computer."
In related news, a 2010 study titled Online Gaming Global Outlook showed that 10 percent of all online time is devoted to playing games or gambling. The increase in gaming is attributed mainly to the rise in high speed internet which allows users to download, install and engage in online multi-player action, and in playing no-download games, more efficiently.
Games development technology has advanced in tandem with connection and general IT technology and equipment improvements, making for more appealing offerings in the gambling and gaming sectors, the study adds.
The rapidly evolving tablet and mobile technologies are also making a noticeable impact among gamers.
