Wsop Event 50: $5,000 Triple Chance No-Limit Hold’em

Thursday June 30, 2011 : Event 50: $5,000 Triple Chance No-Limit Hold’em completed its first day of ten levels early Thursday morning, having started with a field of 817 generating a prize pool of $3.83 million.

When the chips were bagged at level 10, ending the first day's action, Mark Herm was leading on 148,400, tied with Vladimir Mefodichev (148,000) and with UK ace James Akenhead only 4,000 chips behind them.

It's early days yet, and with 297 players still active – many of them great exponents of the game – anything could happen.

As we draw closer to the main event this year, this competition was in much demand, attracting an entry list that included Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Humberto Brenes, Tony Dunst, J.C. Tran, Vanessa Selbst, Shaun Deeb and Jonathan Duhamel – sadly all eliminated.

Eight of last year's main event November Nine finalists were spotted among the tables when the day started.

The second day's competitive line-up will include Andy Black, Johnny Lodden, Lex Veldhuis, Josh Arieh, Gavin Smith, Carlos Mortensen, Jake Cody, Barry Greenstein and the Hachem brothers, Joe and Tony.

The money bubble bursts at position 81, so there's plenty of action still instore for the railbirds and players alike.
