XWINK Drops 1.2 Million at Fulltilt Poker

Posted 3/8/11 : High stakes newcomer down over a million at Full Tilt

The mercurial rise and fall in the fortunes of daring young poker players like Tom Dwan and Viktor Blom appeared to be emulated this week by XWINK, a Full Tilt nosebleed player who is believed to be a young gun from Vancouver.

Demonstrating the daring ‘risk all’ gambling style of others who have seen spectacular rises and equally exciting declines, XWINK has been taking big names for hundreds of thousands in consecutive evening sessions that have pulled in the railbirds.

But his most recent night session turned out to be something of a nightmare for the young player, who reportedy lost over a million dollars when he encountered Full Tilt aces like notable giant-killer Cole South, Phil Ivey and Jungleman Cates.

In 3 211 hands of Pot Limit Omaha on the $300/$600 and $500/$1 000 Cap tables he dropped just over $1.2 million – most of it to Cole South, who took him for $514 000.

Ivey, Cates and a player using the handle NoParasan did the rest of the damage with wins of $266 000, $253 000 and $160 000 respectively.

Later, XWINK posted on the twoplustwo forum that he intended to cash out $500 000 of his recent profits, leaving a sufficiently large balance for him to continue to challenge all comers on the Full Tilt high stakes tables.

Another ‘mountains and valleys’ player – Viktor “Isildur1” Blom – took a beating over the weekend, going down $288 000 on the Pokerstars nosebleed tables.
