Delaware Online Gambling Report Delayed

Tuesday March 11,2014 :  DELAWARE GAMBLING REPORT DELAYED

Commission struggles to achieve consensus.

The commission set up by the state of Delaware to recommend how the state can become more competitive in its gambling industry has struggled to reach consensus, leading to a delay in the submission of its recommendations.

The commission's report to the legislature was due at the end of January this year but the inability to agree on the final draft, and the desire by some commissioners to obtain more information, has held up the project.

The commission meets today (Tuesday) for further discussions, and it is understood that the issue of how much tax slack the state can cut its three land casinos will be on the agenda.

The state's land casinos have lost business to neighbouring states despite the addition of table games, sports betting and online gambling.
