Poker: Wsop Event 30 and 31 updates

6/18/10 – Day 2 of event 30, a $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold'em affair saw cards in the air again on Thursday afternoon as 261 survivors of a massive original field of 2,394 returned to do battle with the money bubble temptingly set at the 234th elimination..

Among those spotted taking their seats were Carlos Mortenson and Neil Channing.

By late evening Thursday Vegas time there were 71 players left, with Christopher Gonzales holding a comfortable lead on 565,000, but Carlos Mortensen his closest rival on 415,000.
3 Allen Stern  325,000

In event 31, a $1,500 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. competition, an entry field of 828 had been whittled down to a mere 280 players by the end of the first day, with names like Lex Veldhuis, Allen Kessler, Tom Dwan, Maria Ho, John Cernuto, Michael Binger and Pat Pezzin outlasting the competition and going through to the second day starting Thursday afternoon.

By late evening Vegas time Thursday there were still 67 players in contention, and Tom Dwan had again failed to reach the final table, let alone win a bracelet.  He was, however just inside the cash bubble, which was some consolation.

Going into Level 15 the chip leader was Regis Burlot on 156 000, followed by Dustin Leary on 150 000 abd a determined Jeff Shulman on 131 000.
