December 8, 2011 : This year police have seized 574 computers and other machines from 63 illegal gambling premises in the Malaysian province

Police in the Sabah province have been busy this year, seizing 574 computers and other machines from 63 illegal gambling premises in the Malaysian province.

“We also picked up 67 people during the operations for further investigations into these cases,” district police chief ACP Rowell Marong told a press conference Wednesday.

In the latest swoop 51 policemen simultaneously raided nine premises during the night, seizing a further 205 machines and computers, he added.

The police spokesman said that officers had to force their way into six of the premises which were locked. They found the lights still on and gaming machines still running inside these outlets.

“We believed the caretakers and owners had fled before the police raided the premises,” he said.

The cops would also disconnect the electricity and water supply of premises believed to have been used for illegal gambling activities, Rowell warned.
