Tanuki Entertainment develops mobile and HTML5 casual games

Monday July 21,2014 : SOCIAL CASINO EXEC STARTS HIS OWN COMPANY

Tanuki Entertainment develops mobile and HTML5 casual games.

Aided and abetted by his wife Susie, former DoubleDown Interactive content director Matthew Gillikin has started his own company, titled Tanuki Entertainment, and has already completed four games as an independent game developer.

Genie of the Nile – Gold, LvLn, Pics & Riddles and Bubble Mayhem are the titles of the new products, with more on the way, Gillikin promises, adding that there's a niche for quick and simple mobile games that can be enjoyed either on the go or whilst waiting idly for service or transport.

Gillikin, who is based in Seattle, has a wealth of industry experience, having worked for the past 13 years at quality developers like Square-Enix, Nintendo, Microsoft, Gas Powered Games, GameHouse and IGT's DoubleDown Interactive, where he was executive producer, creating top-tier content for the successful DoubleDown Casino on Facebook.

Subsequently appointed director of content at DoubleDown, he led the team that defined and implemented the content strategy that would grow the DoubleDown Casino into one of the top three Facebook games to date.

The first four games offer a diversity of ideas and themes. Genie of the Nile is a collection of four mini-games with themes involving Past Life, Tarot Match, Mystic Crystal and Horoscope, whilst  LvLn is all about leveling in a 8-bit retro world replete with monsters.

Pics & Riddles has a multitude of levels and themes, and is a game of riddles solved by selecting the correct three images for each question, and Bubble Mayhem is a fun and casual game set in an undersea world where players pop bubbles and collect falling treasures and power-ups.
