BRIT ELECTION A GOOD TEST OF WILL HILL’S ORBIS TECHNOLOGY

5/7/10 – William Hill’s introduction in November last year of advanced betting technology from Orbis has proved to be a timely boon in the just-completed British general election, in which GBP 40 million was reportedly wagered, and a 70 percent voter turnout estimated.

William Hill launched Orbis Technology’s LiveOdds product in time to benefit from the UK general election, which has turned out to be one of Britain’s biggest betting events of the year.

The software enables William Hill to stream data directly to the gambler’s screen, empowering players by providing them with a choice of opportunities and prices updated in real time.

Prior to the start of voting, Orbis chief executive David Loveday said: “In-running betting is set to be the future of the e-gaming industry and Orbis’ LiveOdds technology will be well demonstrated by William Hill on election night but also other major betting events such as the World Cup.”

Loveday revealed that William Hill is the second operator to offer his company’s product, which was first introduced by Paddy Power.
